On Thursday night the 1A and 2A Finals took place at the Richmond Olympic Oval. The match up’s in the 1A Finals were Deer Lake and Byrne Creek then King George and Cambie in the 2A.

In the first match up of the day was King David Lions vs the Deer Lake Falcons. At the end of regulation King David defeated Deer Lake for their first Lower Mainland Title in school’s history. Contributing to the win for King David Elan Chark with 23pts, Josh Bugis with 16pts and Josh Altow with 10pts. For Deer Lake their top scorer was Kevin Ferrufino with 36pts. Final Score 84-75 for King David. 

This year in the 1A division the Lower Mainland and Kootenay’s were given 1.5 Berths to the provincials. For the 1 spot between two zones there is a wild play card that will be needed. Deer Lake will play West Point Grey Academy, the winner will play a team in Prince rupert to determine which team will go to Provincials in 2 weeks.

Up next the King George Dragons vs the Cambie Crusaders. The game started out with strong performances from both teams exchanging baskets. King George went on to a 9 point lead, Cambie calls a time out to regroup as coach Kulic is getting the Dragons are getting energized and pumped up on the bench. Both teams come back on to the court with 2 minutes left in the first quarter. King George goes on a hot 28-0 Run to close the half 45-11. Cambie had zero points on the second quarter. With an extended lead both teams were able to give an opportunity for the players off the bench to get minutes. King George defeated the Cambie Crusaders 78-33. Top scorers from King George were Mohab Mundadi 16pts, Yoel Teclehaimanot - 14pts, Raz Gugasyan - 11pts, Siwon Lee - 10pts and Kyle Guerre with 10pts. Top scorers for Cambie were Adi Patel with 8pts and Kevin Dhillon with 7pts.

King George and Cambie have advanced to provincials and St.Patricks have defeated R.C. Palmer 79-74 for the last spot to Provincials.
