2016 RANKINGS: SENIORS, VANCOUVER BOYS BASKETBALL

1.  Kitsilano

2. St. George's

3. Lord Byng

4. Killarney

5. Vancouver College

At the Senior Level Kitsilano is the preseason favourite in Vancouver as they boast the depth, size, and skill required to compete for a Provincial Championship. With the departure of their leader Randy Coutts, Coach Sly will be stepping into a great situation as most of his players play year round with different academies. Luka Lizdek is one of the top point guards in the province and his experience playing with Drive will help him this season. Big man Diallo Oballa has been putting in lots of work with Saltus Academy and is preparing for a big season as well. St. George's has speed, size, and depth to compete with anyone in the Province, and will test Kitsilano for the Lower Mainland Championship in March. Seniors John Mikhlin and Jacob Van Santen both play for Drive Elite and both are due for big years for the Saints. Lord Byng is our only AAA representative on the list, and they are for real. Boasting a front line with more size than anyone in the Province and a series of guards that bring a lot of depth and experience will allow them to compete for the AAA Provincial Title. Look for Nathan Bromige to be the star for this team as he has been putting in work in the offseason with Team BC. The Killarney Cougars won the Provincial Championship when they were in grade 10, but they lack the size of the Kits, Saints and Byng. We are not counting them out as they are well coached but they will have to heavily rely on senior Kiante Knight who was turning it up at the NPH Showcase this summer. Vancouver College rounds out the top 5, and they will be hard pressed to qualify for Provincial as there is so much depth in the Lower Mainland field. Look for Senior Sam Bailey to have a big season for the Irish.
