Clan returns home for Whiteout after 74-57 loss to Alaska

Simon Fraser has just one win in its last six games and will look to get back on the winning track at home in the West Gym Whiteout on Thursday.

FAIRBANKS, Alaska -- Simon Fraser University lost 74-57 to Alaska Fairbanks in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference men's basketball game at the Alaska Airlines Court on Saturday. 

The Clan scored first and never held the lead again as the Nanooks responded with a three 20 seconds later and never looked back. Alaska shot 61% in the first half and built a 15-point cushion at the break, 39-24. Simon Fraser cut the lead to nine six minutes into the second half but couldn't get any closer. The Nanooks pushed the lead back out to 18 with seven minutes to go and then cruised to victory.

The win improves Alaska's overall record to 8-8 and 6-4 in conference play, while the Clan drops to 8-10 on the season and 2-8 in league contests.

Fans are encouraged to wear white and hundreds of t-shirts will be given away. The game will also feature the Redzone 19+ craft brewery craft section with #Yellowdog. Parking is free at all Clan home events using the Varsity1 code at the parking meters.

SFU is 6-3 at home this season while Seattle Pacific is 11-6 overall and 6-4 in conference play. 

The Clan was led by 15 points from Kedar Salam on 6-of-13 shooting while Michael Provenzano scored 12 and JJ Pankratz chipped in with 11. 

The Nanooks were led offensively by Alex Baham, who collected a game-high 16 points, going 4-for-4 on threes. 

SFU was 22-of-55 (40%) from the field, and 8-of-23 on threes.  Free throw shooting played a big role in the outcome as the Clan got to the line just six times, hitting five. Alaska had 14 more trips to the line, going 17-of-20. 

As a team, the Nooks shot 56.3 percent from the floor (25-for-44) and 46.7 percent from beyond the arc (7-for-15).
