At St.Georges Senior School on Wednesday night, the honourable mention St.George’s Saints took on the #8 Vancouver College Fighting Irish for Game 2 of the two game series.

Last week the Fighting Irish took a loss against Killarney Cougars in an exhibition match up. In the previous week’s ranking the Cougars were ranked as an honourable mention and Vancouver College sitting at 6th place. After defeating the Fighting Irish last week Killarney moved up the ladder to 6th place and Vancouver College dropped to 8th place in this week’s rankings.

In the first half the Saints and Fighting Irish had a battle. With a team effort many players on both teams were able to get a touch on the ball and contribute on to the scoreboard. The Irish out scored the Saints 43-41 at the end of half.

As the second half began, Saints were able to jump the gun to get a quick 8pts to cut their lead down to 1. With many fouls being called it put the Irish in a tough position putting four players with three fouls mid third quarter. The Irish knew they had to stop giving them the fouls to hold their lead.

In the fourth quarter Saints slipped away as the Irish picked up the pace and put themselves at a 15 point lead. The Fighting Irish were able to close out the game 98-88 at the end of regulation.
