Vancouver, B.C. - After the inaugural Pacific Rim Classic, Team Canada travelled out East to play the last two games of the first round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Americas Qualifiers. They would defeat the Dominican Republic 97-61 in Toronto before travelling to Ottawa where they would easily beat the U.S. Virgin Islands 99-69.
Kamloops product Kelly Olynyk would play a large part in the wins, joined by fellow NBA player Dillon Brooks, and top prospect RJ Barrett who all scored in double figures on both nights. Team Canada would finish 5-1 in the first round, securing first place in Group D.
The team will take action again in September in Round 2 of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Americas Qualifiers as they play three games in a home-and-away basis.
