Richmond, B.C. - What a weekend out in Richmond for the 33rd Annual Dolphin Classic. Once again, this year’s tournament did not disappoint as one of the main basketball events of the summer.

Athletes competed at the South Arm Community Centre in the beautiful weather all weekend, but there could only be one champion. The Youth Final saw the SBMC Eagles take the championship in a gutsy overtime victory. In the Women’s Division, the Original Grandmas, captained by Jenn Bodnar, would be crowned Champions as a game-winning lay-up would drop in the final seconds of the game.

Up next would come the skills portion of the night. In the Three Point Contest, it would be St. George’s High School standout Jerric Palma who would knock down shots when it mattered most to take the title. In the Dunk Contest Final, Professional Dunker Kevin Kemp of Seattle would be matched against Kitsilano Grad and Douglas College Commit Tyrone Asenoguan. After a number of jaw-dropping dunks, which included both contestants jumping over members of the crowd, it would be Kevin Kemp who would take a 0.5 point victory and win the Hoopstir Dunk Contest at the 33rd Dolphin Classic.

The tournament would end with a standing room only crowd on hand to watch the Men’s Final between the Ex-Falcons and G2. The Ex-Falcons would close the game out down the stretch taking the Men’s Division Championship and bringing the 33rd Dolphin Classic to a close.

Thank you to the Dolphin Classic Team for organizing another incredible tournament - we look forward to the 34th year in 2019!
