Wednesday night in Vancouver, Sir Charles Tupper hosted the annual Vancouver High School All Star Game. The game featured a player from every team from the Vancouver district to play on either Team East or Team West.

Team East featured players from Britannia, Gladstone, Killarney, King George, Templeton, David Thompson, Sir Charles Tupper, Van Tech and Windermere.

Team West featured players from Churchill, Eric Hamber, John Oliver, Kitsilano, Lord Byng, Magee, Point Grey, Prince of Wales and University Hill.

The two teams were coached by the teams who had crowned the champion title for the Vancouver 4A division and Vancouver 2A / 3A Division. The two teams were 2A/3A King George and 4A Kitsilano. Team East was coached by King George Darko Kulic and Team West coached by Sylvester Noel from Kitsilano.

The match up between the East and West was very close through out the game but in the final minute it had become very close.

Just about a minute to go East lead West 110-100. Kitsilano’s Sharp shooter Luka Lizdek sunk three 3pt shots making the game a 110-108 with about 8 seconds left. As they fouled with 5 seconds left, West puts Gladstone #11 Michael Chany on the line. He makes the first one. On his second free-throw he threw the ball off the backboard for a dunk attempt. He had missed and the ball had gone out of bounds off of him changing the possession.

With 3 seconds left on the clock, west calls a time out and gets the ball on the front court. East had decided to stand on their defensive end to force a potential overtime. Everyone knew the ball would go to Lizdek for the last shot as he made 3 in a row already. The Referee blew his whistle as he hands Dokmanovic the ball for a pass to Lizdek. He misses the shot as the final buzzer goes. Final score 111-108.

On April 8th, B.C. Boys High School Basketball will be hosting the BC All Star game along with the Three Point Shooting Contest and the Dunk Contest. A Grade 12 only, 1A vs 2A and 3A vs 4A match up will take place at R.C. Palmer following with the Slam-Dunk Contest and Three-Point Contest.
