Vancouver, B.C. - It's official. Basketball now has it's own global holiday. On Saturday June 23, 2018, celebrate the greatest game on earth and ball together.
Founded by Chris Paul and Justin Leonard, Go Hoop Day is a way for players / coaches / fans all around the world to come to celebrate they game they all love. Ambassadors for the holiday include Donovan Mitchell, Evan Turner, Emmanuel Mudiay, Bria Hartley, Cappie Pondexter and Jalen Rose.
Local activities, grass-roots events and digital initiatives will be popping up all around the world and players are invited to play anyway the game any way they know how, whether that be in their driveway or at the local rec-centre. Celebrating is easy - grab a ball, find hoop and go play - be sure to share your highlights on social with #gohoopday.
You can celebrate with Vancouver Basketball by joining a FREE workout hosted at Fortius Sport & Health led by Coach Doug Plumb, who has trained NBA Elite Players such as Kevin Durant, Donovan Mitchell, and Carmelo Anthony. Doug is currently the Head Coach of the St. John's Edge in the NBLC and VP of Athlete Development for Academy Basketball. Athletes will go through a one-hour skill development session before being split into teams to compete in a 3-on-3 tournament.
