Prince Rupert, B.C. - Prince Rupert’s own Liam McChesney, the 6’9 power forward of the Charles Hays Rainmakers has signed his National Letter of Intent to Division I college basketball for Utah State University in Logan, Utah.
McChesney is the #1 overall rated power forward in all of Canada and ranked 30th in the class of 2019. After playing for the U17 BC Provincial team in the summer games, the star forward was named to the U17 Canada National Team Training Camp Roster. He traveled to Mexico City for training camp but didn’t make the trip to Argentina for the U17 world championship because of a hamstring injury. Liam rehabbed and came back even stronger which resulted in him having a big showing at a high profile AAU tournament in Las Vegas where he sparked a interest from UC Davis, Eastern Michigan, Gonzaga and Minnesota before eventually signing with Utah State.
Good luck to Liam McChesney when he begins his NCAA Career with the Utah State Aggies in the fall of 2019. Liam and the Charles Hays Rainmakers will be in Vancouver next weekend for the 'No Regrets' Tournament hosted in North Vancouver from December 6th-8th.
