Hastings Park, Vancouver - This Saturday June 2nd, Red Bull is taking over Hastings Park for a full day 3-on-3 tournament, titled Red Bull Reign, and this is no ordinary 3-on-3 tournament. While 24 teams from Vancouver will compete in the one-day Vancouver Qualifier, this is a WORLDWIDE event. Red Bull Reign is happening in five cities across Canada and 15+ countries around the world.
The Vancouver Qualifier Winner will be flown to Toronto, ON for the Canadian National Final. The winner of that will have earned the right to represent Canada at the World Finals hosted in Washington DC.
Despite being popular for decades, 3-on-3 has really grown in the last 10 years globally since being legitimized and recognized at the 2010 Youth Olympics, with its official debut in the Olympic Program coming at Tokyo 2020. 3-on-3 is already a very dynamic game because it requires less players, a half-court, and the official rules are designed to provide a fast and exciting game. Red Bull has taken this and added even more excitement. While wins and losses will matter, this tournament is all about buckets. Red Bull Reign is the only event with a cumulative scoring system, meaning the team with the most points wins each group.
