VANCOUVER, B.C. - What better way to celebrate Canada Day than with some outdoor hoops? On July 1st, Sport BC and the City of Vancouver present the Summer Warm-Up, a day filled with activities that will take over Robson Square and the North Plaza of the Vancouver Art Gallery. This event will bring numerous Provincial Sport Organizations together in one place allowing athletes of all ages to learn about / try new sports while celebrating how Canadians stay moving and healthy.
Vancouver Basketball will be stationed on the 800 block of Robson Street (by the Robson Ice Rink) with a half-court, full-sized hoop, DJ, and giveaways, while giving athletes the opportunity to learn about the game. Basketball was founded by Dr. James Naismith, a Canadian, in 1891 so it is a fitting day for celebration. Attendees will also have the opportunity to try Yoga, Softball, Golf, Rowing, Curling + much more.
